UN Research Access
Aptivate has been working with the UN agencies WHO and FAO from 2006 to improve their HINARI and AGORA programs. The programs are designed to enable access to academic publications to health and agricultural institutions. Both programs provide a web portal that allows users to access journal publishers' sites, and a third program for environmental research, OARE, is planned for the near future. Aptivate has carried out a number of projects relating to these portals, including:
- working with users in Ghana to identify user requirements for the portal design
- working with commercial partners to improve the server infrastructure
- developing a new user interface for HINARI
- building a management interface for a unified database back-end for the systems
