BMO Tools

Bandwidth Monitoring and Optimisation (BMO) Tools is an ongoing project to develop user-friendly and intelligently self-configuring free software that will help network managers to monitor and optimise their bandwidth usage. In 2006, Aptivate carried out the first practical phase of this programme in Kenya.

Working together with KENET, a Kenyan ISP for educational institutions, we identified network management issues faced by KENET's clients, and started a programme of technical work to address these issues. In collaboration with partner institutions, we aim to build a distributable software package that will provide documentation along with network and client tools to assist good network practice.

The first software deliverable from this project is pmGraph, a tool for simple graphical network monitoring.
